  • Soap as Art – Pop Star

    This little beauty was created with my standard blend of oils.  The dark brown color comes from powdered Black Walnut hulls and the black spots are actual Poppy Seeds!  The scent is a gorgeous aniseed, from Star Anise essential oil.  Below are details of the properties of the botanical additives in my Pop Star soap.

    Star Anise essential oil – Uplifting, balancing and comforting.  Helps us to deal with any psychological pain that we might be experiencing our life.  Gives us the strength to deal with whatever might come our way.  Balances and unblocks the Ajna (6th / third eye) Chakra.

    Black Walnut hull powder – anti-fungal, antibacterial and antiviral

    Poppy Seeds – exfoliating

  • Soap as Art – Tranquili-Tea (aka Deep Purple)

    This soap is scented with a combination of Lavender and Lady Grey Tea (you can see some actual tea on the top of the soap).  I was inspired to use the Lady Grey Tea because the blue cornflowers that it contains just felt like they belonged in this soap.  The dark purple color comes from powdered alkanet root and a small amount of tea.  I’m always intrigued by the properties that the essential oils and other botanicals bring to the soap, so read on if that’s of interest to you too!

    Lavender – anti-inflammatory; useful for treating anxiety, insomnia, depression, and restlessness; soothing; calming.  Encourages emotional honesty, self-awareness and peace of mind.  Balances and unblocks the Ajna (6th / third eye) chakra.

    Lady Grey Tea – calming and soothing; antioxidant

    Alkanet root – is said to soothe eczema and itching or irritated skin.
